Interesting that the Snowbirds are coming this year - that MT article has lots of freqs that should be usable for the show. Hope the weather holds - the last weather forecast was for showers on Sunday 73s Mike

Dunno, John - due to some very serious financial problems, I don't have much in the way of milair capable handhelds anymore, darnit...

Anyway, I'll renew my offer of the Excel spreadsheet that has the Blue Angels freqs (likely to be used in the flyover tomorrow in addition to the usual UHF Flyover freq Alan mentioned in his thread) and lots of the stuff that MT article had. At least some of this will be usable for the JOSA show. Remember, please send me an email direct to ka3jjz@netscape.com - I can't reply here and attach the file at the same time - it would only slow the process down to a crawl. 73s Mike

[edit] The freq - which is in the Delmarva wiki, by the way - is 279.525

Nor me. I used to take a heavily modified 2006 and a 12v gel cell in a napsack. May raise some eyebrows now. Thanks for the file.

I took both a PRO-96 for the Trunked system and PRO-26 for Mil Air last year with no problems. Plan to take scanners with me this year if the weather is good to attend. No real problem with the radios or backup batteries for the scanners. Just had to show everything at the gate when going into a metal detector, like at the airport. I saw many other people during show with scanners. You just have to watch requirements on Andrews AFB website under open house about what you can't bring in.

Hope this helps.

I took in my Pro-97 last year too, no problems.

As for the Fly over today, at the Woodrow Wilson Bridge, this morning's news reported the Blue Angels were going to give a full show and that Reagan National was going to be shut down for a while.

If Anyone gets to the show at andrews on friday, or is in the area, Please post the "Show Boss" frequency if you get it.

Andrews TRS

Obviously, the main event is the 'air show', but does anyone plan to monitor the Andrews TRS freqs? I have the system in my radio, but probably don't have all the 'must have' talk group ids programmed.

Also, if I had to program in a single tower or approach freq for Andrews to monitor the arriving units for the show, which freq should I choose.

Thanks,
Dan

Oh it trunks, OK, you just have to learn how to set it up. We've got numerous resources on the PRO-95 wiki page. And get Win95 with the proper cable...

Anyway, back to the show - a lot of the stuff will be in the milair band, where the PRO95 is deaf as a post. However, some of the performers (civilians, anyway) will be in the VHF civil air band (118-136 Mhz).

Check out the MT article that was mentioned in other threads - if you want my Excel spreadsheet, shoot me an email with your address - as mentioned, please send it directly. Don't send me a private email via RR since I can't attach a file here. You can also find the article linked in the mil monitoring wiki, in the websites and mailing lists page 73s Mike

163.0

I'm getting some encrypted traffic on 163.0 listed as a ground control freq for the Blue Angels. Are their comms encrypted or could this be another user and I need a PL tone to eliminate the encrypted comms.

I would bet that the ATC freqs will see heavy use for coordination purposes. I'm not sure about the other freqs, tho. I would also bet that the trunk system will be quite busy with show traffic 73s Mike

It might be interesting to see if there are other online receivers that could possibly tune in the show - the DX Tuners website lists a resource in DC that's a possibility. There's another one - but I must admit, I don't know where Hughesville is, so I'm not sure he's close enough to hear the action (is that Southern Md.?).

That url is: http://www.teppodama.com/pcr1000/tune.html

Any others? 73s Mike

My stream will be active with the airshow freqs. 237.8, 284.25, 251.6, 275.35, 305.5, 272.1, 379.2, 239.4, 365.7, 283.7, plus the tower freqs.

I don't guarantee anything since it will be my BC250D that is connected. It's not quite as good as the 396T which I'll be using for something else.

1207- The Snowbirds are active.

I keep hearing the word "MO" with the Blues.
Who is Mo?
It also sounds like they are using the same freqs as yesterday.
