The injured guard still in hospital is a Canadian Forces firefighter who works for G4S as a second job.

Do yourself a favor and don't watch the video posted from the scene. Someone filmed the police trying to breach the ATM vestibule/back room while Safewalk (who found the scene initially) looks on. In it you can hear the abovementioned "surviving" guard screaming continuously. I've also heard that his wounds are to the head.. the two together (the sound he was making plus the described injuries) leads me to believe his prognosis won't be good.

The Plenty of Fish and Facebook profiles of the suspect are very telling of his possible state of mind. Seems his main motivation was to get on the 6 oclock news after a fight with his mother over money.

Watch for that Ford truck now with CAA plates. Say a few prayers fpr the seriously injured firefighter/G4S employee who is still gravely injured.

Just a question. How far back does US customs scan your license plate? Since Alberta only has front plates it would have to be from behind. I suppose they would try to do it as far back as possible.

Thank godness this mental midget was dumb enough to try and cross the border using his own, truck, the broadcast license plate and the 330 thousand dollars. I guess he didn't take his gun and flack vest across in case he got caight:)

Did anyone in Washington or B.C. hear any of this border action east of Vancouver?

I listened to this event (the robbery itself) on Friday morning (around midnight) on my scanner ... and I didn't think that anything really big was happening so I shut my scanner off. Boy .. what a dumb thing that was.

The suspect apparently got caught because his license plate didn't match the vehicle it was on. He would have been smarter to have left the original plate on his truck. But I do believe that the border members in the US not only had his picture but they were also looking for his truck.

So ... I think he was sunk no matter what he was going to try.

I am just happy that he is now coming back to face justice. Oh yeah .. the money. I don't know about you .. but 330,000 is to me still a lot of money. I wouldn't mind if it was in my bank account.

There are 2 cameras (front/back) as you drive into the booth itself. The system from what I know would have hit on the plate in no more than a second. Flashing a warning on the computer in the both and sending an alarm of some kind in the main office.

There is also video camera the show the lineup so someone may have seen a truck that matched and looked in to it more.

Used another license

But didn't they say before he was caught that he switched the license plates to CAA636, which came from another vehicle at his home? This was broadcast early the next morning that the license may not be the same one as posted earlier.

He put the license plate on his truck from his mothers car. It didn't do him much help ... as the police were aware of this (and broadcast such information) and he was thus busted at the border for doing so.

The suspect in this case returned to Edmonton this afternoon and is scheduled to appear in court tomorrow. May justice be obtained soon for the families involved.

Good old Mike Papa Echo RCMP aircraft brought him. Quite the media circus at both the sleepy muni airport yesterday and today at the courthouse. Hope he loses celebrity status real soon.

It's great to hear the fourth victim is steadily improving. It's going to be an interesting trial. I also wonder if a call for help was ever sent out from those at the scene on the trunked LTR system they are on. G4S bought out Loomis/Securicorp.
