Just recieved this e-mail be sure to tune your radios to 42.8 MHz

WA2XMN will be on the air on 42.8 megacycles from the Armstrong tower in Alpine, NJ on Saturday, July 14th, starting at about 11AM. See: WA2XMN Transmitter power is 200 watts, so coverage is pretty good even 50 miles out. So dust off you vintage FM receivers or VHF scanners. We will not do QSL cards this time, but we will be watching for real-time signal reports at howard@ar88.net. Sorry for the short notice, Al

Hi Justin,

I thought that it was me. Just using a Kenwood TH-F6 portable in Westchester.
Solid signals to/from my UHF repeater on the tower so I know it's not a bad path and can receive 60 control on
46 MHz so I know my portable is receiving well on low band.

Maybe this weekend's coronal mass ejection disrupted their signal. (lol) Never heard anything.

And nothing 1,000 miles south despite a yagi pointed up that way and 6 meters being open a good part of the weekend.

I actually have photos of the transmitter siting in the room, I don't know the manufacturer. I'll post a general view of the room, but I have to look for the ones with the W2XMN transmitter. There are 2 others (GE's looks like preprog's) in various states of refurbishment. The one all the way to the right, it looks kinda green. The far end of the room is our MIII's

I love it! There's an honest day's work right there! Is that 900 MHz MSF trunksite still in there or has it been forklifted out?

The 900 system was actually in another room called the North Purple, and that's gone. Some of the TX'ers are still there, and I have dibbs on 2 of them. It's where I had my trunking system, and I may have a picture of that too somewhere, I took them for insurance purposes.
Since I am looking for pictures, here is one of Mt Beacon, 70 miles from NYC at an elevation of 1700 ft.

Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous!!!!! I loved cruising the Hudson Valley during my paging and LMR days. Jackie Jones, Cheesecote Mountain (before they built the subdivision), and Arden House were my favorites. Never made it to Mt. Beacon, but always worked the guys during the June VHF contest.

I wanted to point out Ron P.'s tie-wrap job on the FSJ going into those MSFs. It's still my gold standard of a "nice" site install. That guy was a perfectionist.
