Yah it was art that introduced me into the word of am dx mwdx and got me introduced into shortwave. I do have a couple clips of him on wtww. but my equipment isn't that great anymore and good signals even close ones are few and far between, and for that matter who the heck picked noory, that's how I got into 2am graveyard extended band dx. God I miss art on coast. One of the best talk radio voices of current time.

Whats up hff-
I honestly could never get into Art and his show. A buddy at work loved him so much he'd record his shows back in the mid 80s and play them at work. I could never settle back and actually listen to him. I saw the bulls*** factor too well I guess
But I get what you appreciate in his radio style and the ecclectic feel of the shows-he did have that unique "night swagger" and a hell of a good voice for radio.

Oh I believed every word of the guests that called in. I mean, how else are you going to hear first and accounts of alien abductions and exorcisms.
. And do these people not sleep for some reason? They always sounded like they had been up for days or on a bunch of meds.However it was still entertaining.

That was the point he made the bull interesting. while your up from insomnia or the cops are trying to stay awake, he kept you engaged on whatever he was talking about, it just happend to be bull most the time, but it was more interesting than the equivalent of what is red eye radio today. 5 solid hours of conservative pundits at least trucker nation played music. By the way Ridge hope your holidays are well and what happend to the mwdx thread I'm planning on getting a cc-2e and built a dual turntable for direcenal tuning I can't keep up with you guys on the swl logs I don't have an outdoor antenna

The MW thread is there waiting for you to add some logs. SWL is ok here but nothing worth logging for a while. Majoco was the last one who got something cool and worthy of a logging in SW far as I recall.
Here I just regularly listen to BBC out of Asia and Africa or WTWW on 5085 in the evenings (0300utc and later) who play good old style music.

Can't speak for anyone else but MWDX has been the same 300 stations on better nights and cr@ppy conditions on others. Starting to get bored with it. I do more listening than DXing anymore. SW is about the same -- many stations MIA whenever I bother to tune in. Did hear a fascinating interview on Radio Australia on 9580 khz the other a.m., glad they're still on the air.
RE Art Bell, I only heard his new show once. Too bad it didn't come in well. He was the pioneer of the genre, but media has changed... A few online shows, C2C still going well, Ground Zero, etc. My take is he never should have retired to begin with. But that's life. I'm just glad to hear his marriage and family are both doing well.

Art Bell doing late-night paranormal talk on shortwave – that's a trifecta. The former producer has stepped up and is trying to make it work. That's still a win in my book. As much as I miss Bell, I'll continue to listen, and continue to support the show as it's running now. I just hope the crew can keep it running.
I came in late to C2C and never heard any of the Bell shows when they were live and current. So these past few months have been a real treat. Again, I want to see this show keep running, if only to have something worthwhile and weird to hear on SW.

Boombox there is definitely a sucks-factor here too last few weeks. Prop was phenomenal just before that in HF, but lately I barely get NY Radio on 10051 or 6604kHz (prop-checks here) must be the tilt of the earth or something.

I miss Art, also. I had to get his program streamed over the internet because the interference is too awful for SWL around my humble abode.
