Arthur IL ambulance, in Marshall Co. ???

I am hearing the Arthur ambulance dispatch LOUD and Clear on a pretty regular basis. It is coming across the local freq. for Toluca (154.325)

Arthur is a long, long way from here, and I was curious of how I can hear it so well all the time.

I looked around at the Arthur freqs., and I didn't even see a listing of 154.325.

Any idea of how it is making such a long trip? It's about 140 miles!

Perhaps the VHF-High tropo conditions have been frequently good for you lately. I happen to be picking up DTV stations from Central Illinois at the moment (WBUI-DT right now at my location north of Kankakee), so the conditions might extend down to 154 MHz. I'm guessing the station your hearing also has a respectable transmitter.

Arthur has a repeater on 154.130 that uses 153.770 as an input. The Marshall County system on 154.325 also uses 153.770 as an input. While I have 100.0 PL listed as used in Marshall County and 146.2 in Arthur there are a couple possibilities:

1) Perhaps they actually both use the same PL, and my database is incorrect.

2) Perhaps one of the receivers in Marshall County is faulty, receiving without regard as to PL.
