I thought the amount of activity heard on the FRS frequencies was an interesting catch. With Aruba being 17 miles north of the Venezuelan coast and Venezuelan terrestrial analog television channels in our hotel rooms it wouldn't surprise me if some of what I heard was coming from Venezuela. I had the 859.6250 MHz frequency listed in the DB for Aruba programmed in but didn't hear anything. I talked to one of our taxi drivers about his radio and he mentioned how he can't listen to his scanner anymore because they switched to TETRA. My loggings of digital voice in the 390MHz band confirms this. Lowband was dead. As was 11 meters, save for some strong SSB heard in the 27.500 to 27.600 MHz area. My antenna is deaf below 150 MHz anyway.
Any insights, thoughts, etc?
