858.6500 CSQ - Data, continuous
855.5375 CSQ - Data, continuous, same as 868.650

I thought the amount of activity heard on the FRS frequencies was an interesting catch. With Aruba being 17 miles north of the Venezuelan coast and Venezuelan terrestrial analog television channels in our hotel rooms it wouldn't surprise me if some of what I heard was coming from Venezuela. I had the 859.6250 MHz frequency listed in the DB for Aruba programmed in but didn't hear anything. I talked to one of our taxi drivers about his radio and he mentioned how he can't listen to his scanner anymore because they switched to TETRA. My loggings of digital voice in the 390MHz band confirms this. Lowband was dead. As was 11 meters, save for some strong SSB heard in the 27.500 to 27.600 MHz area. My antenna is deaf below 150 MHz anyway.

Any insights, thoughts, etc?

Island Princess was one, there were a few others. One was with the Dutch American Line but I don't remember the name of the ship.

Thanks, always looking to ID some of the lesser [non USA visitors] known shops..

Island Princess [2007 & 2012 Reports] didn't have 123.0 Hz

as for Dutch American, I assume you mean Holland America
yup, they do reply frequently on 123.0 Hz and D-343

Yes, it was Holland America. There were so many ships I lost track of them after a certain point.

Of note is the fact that both the hotel staff and some of the cruise ship staff I saw were using MotoTRBO equipment.

I know it's been a while since this thread was updated. I'm going to Aruba in a few weeks. I've programmed in all the freq's from the database and some stuff from the forum threads I've searched. Just looking to see if anyone has any more to share from any recent trips and or later. Thanks!

Aruba logs:

421.000 I believe to be a TETRA control channel "close call" hit in the area of the Water and Energy Company Aruba (Water-En Energiebedrijf Aruba) while driving past. good signal. heard pretty much island wide.

418.100 RTTY

TETRA data heard on:
429.625
412.425
422.350
422.850
422.600

all of these frequencies were using a voice inversion and the same PL of 131.8. I believe their is a connection between them:
929.900
173.500
168.500

LOTS of CB radio traffic with US southern accents on:
27.025
27.075
27.185
27.205
27.285
27.425
Mentions of Alabama and Mississippi

856.1375 P25 Control channel (weak signal)

866.2875 P25 Control channel.

806.000 74.4 Hotel Ops (Spanish)

167.975 023 Unknown (Spanish)

480.250 74.4 Unknown Eng/Spanish

36.450 DCS 032 Unknown Spanish. I don't believe to be from the island, signal faded in and out.

770 AM RCN La Radio Bogota Colombia
810 AM Caracol Radio Bogota Colombia
940 AM WINZ Miami FL

Over all most of the activity I heard on the island seemed to be in the UHF bands. lots of digital radio.

a lot of MOTOTRBO data sound heard on the scanner in UHF

I can also confirm from KF4ZTO's initial post that some of the TETRA channels he has listed were active too.
