Arvada Fire working 2nd alarm fire at Arvada High School, operating on Arvada/Westminster trunk, Arvada Fire TAC-3 06-043 (just added to database yesterday). This may be their first big fire since starting to use the trunk instead of their UHF conventional system. Sounds good so far. I see on the forum this may be training-- haven't heard any indication of training in the last 15 min, or when the 2nd alarm units were dispatched. One would think they would indicate 'training' or something similar if it is.

After listening to this for about 20 minutes, the IC finally mentioned the word 'drill'. Well, interesting listening nonetheless.

ARVADA – The former Arvada West High School will be the site for a three day training exercise for the Arvada Fire Department.

The training that will occur on Allendale Drive will be begin on May 20th and run through May 22nd. The Fire department is scheduled to be on scene 7:30 a.m. until noon.

According to the fire department, residents shouldn't be alarmed if they see the presence of fire trucks. According to Arvada Fire Department Public Information Officer, Scott Pribble, The Jefferson County School district is allowing them to train there.

The building is scheduled for demolition in June.

A new Arvada West High School was built last year and officially opened in March of 2008.

According to Training Chief, Charlie Johlgren, the training will focus on fire attack at a large commercial structure versus a fire inside the school. He added that no real fire will be used during the training exercise.
