Ascension SO moving to new system?

In the Tuesday, March 1, issue of the Ascension Parish weekly newspaper, The Citizen, on page 8A was a story titled "Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office hosts monthly Mutual Aid meeting".
Every month the members of the Ascension Parish MA association, local fire departments, rescue squads, ambulance services and law enforcement, meet to report on training attended or available as well as the activity they have had recently. A different agency hosts the meeting and serves dinner each month.
The article states -

"Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office- Cheif Tony Bacala, Major Benny Delaune, Cap. Lee Anderson and Lt. Brett Babin gave a complete report on the remodeling of the Ascension Parish 911 Center. CHIEF BACALA ALSO GAVE A REPORT ON THE NEW RADIO SYSTEM THEY ARE MOVING TO IN THE NEXT YEAR."

Could it be the new LATIE system that they are planning on joining once LSP has it up and running? Does anyone have any info regarding this? Was anyone there at the MA meeting or talked to someone in ASO regarding this move? Anyone with info, not speculation since I do that enough myself, please post it here.

From what I can read, it looks possible. My guess is that they are. My friend works for the sheriffs office here and he said that he heard something about them going to a new system, but he hasn't heard which system or anything like that.

So far the only Parish radio systems with a licsense are:

WPTY910
WPMI960
WPMJ230
WPPZ547 is the newest given last month.

So we will have to watch for any NEW ones popping up this year.

We do know that it won't be any 700 MHz, this year anyway. Louisianna won't really be doing to much till after 2008/9ish after rebanding rolls through. The preliminary planning and contracting etc will be happening... But don't expect the real big bang till after rebanding.

I'm not so sure of that timeline. The new Statewide inter op system http://www.lsp.org/interoperability.html is planned to be up sooner and here in the Baton Rouge area, where Ascension Parish is, will be where the first phase takes place. Seems that they are getting the ball rolling on this alot faster than 2008/2009.
