ASPEN, Colo. -- Four people were found dead in a house outside of Aspen on Friday evening.

Pitkin County Sheriff's office received a report of fatalities at a house at 10 Popcorn Lane, located a few miles outside of the city limits.

Authorities said two adults, a man and a woman, along with a boy and a girl were found dead inside. When members of the Aspen Volunteer Fire Department arrived at the scene, they discovered carbon monoxide levels to be extremely high and unsafe.

Update from KUSA.

PITKIN COUNTY - The sheriff's office has identified four family members found dead in a home east of Aspen Friday.

The Pitkin County Sheriff's Office says Parker Lofgren, 39, Caroline Lofgren, 42, and their children, Owen, 10, and Sophie, 8, were visiting Aspen for the Thanksgiving weekend. Family friends found their bodies Friday.

The sheriff's office believes the hot water and snowmelt systems weren't working correctly, and caused extreme levels of carbon monoxide inside the house. Toxicology reports could take up to two weeks, according to Deputy Coroner Dr. Chuck Johnson.

The sheriff's office says the Lofgrens are from the Denver area.
