Is this possible with this scanner?

My scanner displays unit IDs flawlessly but I'd love to be able to assign an alias or alpha tag to them. BTW I use FreeSCAN. Thanks for any help.

Create a group in the system you want to have UID's alpha tagged.
In the TG setting, enter 'i' then UID. Then enter your alpha tag.

Ex, UID 1001 Dispatch would be:
i1001 Dispatch

You will have to remember the limitations for the number of 'talk groups' in a group and under a system.

Thanks Phil. This lead me to a couple more questions:

1. Using your example, if that UID is found and the UID tag is associated with it and displayed on the BCT15X, will it show as:

"i1001 Dispatch"

Or just:

"Dispatch"

(i.e., does the scanner automatically strip off the "i1001" prefix or is that now part of the displayed unit ID)?

2. Does the group that I need to create to hold the UID tags require a special name or tag of its own?

Program the i1001 as the TG ID number. Then program "Dispatch" as the alpha tag. (Not Together).

Dispatch will show in the display if that UID is in use. Any UIDs that you "don't" have programmed will display as the UID number (ixxxxxx).

I put all my UIDs in one group and name it UIDs.

Also if you program a UID the scanner will stop every time there is a transmissions from that radio, such as phone patches, private calls, etc. regardless of the TG used.
