Ok, we wanted to hook an Astro Digital Trunking System up to our speaker system in our engine bay but we don't see a speaker output on the Astro by Motorola. Does anyone know how to do this or the best way to?

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.
For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Its a Motorola Astro, its the achually base unit that you use to talk and hear with. It has a built in speaker, I don't see any outputs on it.
He's probably looking for a headphone or external speaker jack which doesn't exist.
You should be able to hook something up to the connector on the back of the radio using the appropriate outputs. Just be careful not to ground them or you'll blow the audio amp.
Perhaps you'd be better off calling in the local two way shop to do the job for you instead of risking damage to the radio.

HLN6042A is the model number. Do you know what wire is the one that I would hook it into?

i would HIGHLY recommend you call whoever maintains your radio system and have them offer a solution/tech to do this. That consolette is extremely expensive and someone wouldnt be happy about damage to it. it is VERY easy to blow the audio amp in it if you are not careful.

Yea but its alot of money to have someone come out and do it thats why we were trying to find directions on how to do it.
15 pin connector.....
We have one hooked up to our Zetron radio console that way.....

You "shouldn't" have to have PAY anyone come out & hook it up.....Just call the motorola shop, tell them you need one of the 15 pin connectors that plugs into the back of the radio that THEY will set up for you to run an EXTERNAL speaker. They should send it to you for about $5.oo bucks. You wire up your speaker leads to the two wires they left sticking out of the plug, and, away you go!!!!NuclearDoctor said:
