• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

You will probably have more luck if you just post your questions outright. Also you might want to run your questions by the folks at batlabs.com. That forum is geared specifically toward this type of topic.

Astro Saber software

OK thanks. I am trying to get my hands on the new version of the Astro Saber/xts3000 software. I think it is the CPS 4.01. I am trying to get it from Motorola and running in to dead ends. I work Law Enforcement and will be using the Saber on the system. I just need to get the software so I can program it myself and not pay Motorola a fortune to do it. Any help would be great. Thanks, Kevin

Good luck on trying to get it from Motorola. The licensing is tough for CPS and pretty expensive at $300 to $400.00. It would be cheaper to have the local Moto dealer do it
for you as long as you are a valid user on the system and have a new ID specific to that radio from the System Admin.

Being a Motorola tech and knowing how serious Moto takes pirated software, I would suggest NOT publicly asking someone to give you the software or even admitting you are looking for an alternate method of aquiring it. Just a little advice from me to you.

If you need, i can get a part number and contact info to get it legally when I get back in on tuesday.

It would cost, from a licensed MSS, about...oh...$50 or so to do all 255 channels with signalling systems and button personalities included, for a 1 time programming, if this is what you're looking for. Owning the latest release myself, I must say there is no extremely noticable inprovement from the older revisions, i.e. 4.x.x, unless you are getting the "Codeplug too new for application" error upon tryinig to read the radio.

I have the older versions, but I am indeed getting the "codeplug to new" message. So knowing that I will be using this radio for quite some time, I was hoping that I could buy the newest version of the software. I would buy it from Motorola and pay the "high price" just to own a copy of the new software and not have to worry about it.

If you have purchased the previous versions, you should have a subscription to where you can download the update for free off of MOL. I would call your motorola sales rep and have that added, sometimes it does not show up automatically.
