• Effective immediately we will be deleting, without notice, any negative threads or posts that deal with the use of encryption and streaming of scanner audio.

We've noticed a huge increase in rants and negative posts that revolve around agencies going to encryption due to the broadcasting of scanner audio on the internet. It's now worn out and continues to be the same recycled rants. These rants hijack the threads and derail the conversation. They no longer have a place anywhere on this forum other than in the designated threads in the Rants forum in the Tavern.

If you violate these guidelines your post will be deleted without notice and an infraction will be issued. We are not against discussion of this issue. You just need to do it in the right place. For example:

That is a good question. Their move to Project 25, was completely dependent on the ability to obtain the funding to do so. However, I have not heard anything about them receiving any money from the state or federal grants. Nonetheless, they may wait until the Nextel rebanding project is finished first, before they make any moves.

is lapeer still going to astro in 2006?
Some people say we are going to upgrade, but according to dispatchers I've talked to say we are not. Our county commission doesn't like spending money and we simply don't have that kind of funding.

I should add that most (if not all) of the LE agencies in Lapeer Co have walkie radios that can be upgraded to the Astro system. As of right now the in car radios haven't been replaced and I don't think that the FDs and EMS agencies have been upgraded.
