I picked up the control channel 769.44375c on my 396 from Chandler. It was VERY weak, but broadcasting that it was site 103. I pluged 769.44375 into my 2096 and here is what it pulled for the system running Pro96comm 1.7.1.

Only two talkgroups were heard in this short listen, 8001 & 8002. 8001 does seem to be ASU Dispatch. Radio ID for Dispatch appears to be 50001.

I did get a laugh out of the Callsign that was recorded, CHANGEME. Something tells me this was put together pretty quickly.

My 396 & 996 are both tracking this system with no problems so far, no mods are needed for 700 MHz Trunking for them.

I will leave Pro96Comm running and see what else gets logged.

The callsign "Change Me" is apparently on all of the towers, based upon recent updates to the website on this sytem ...

Which indicates they are in violation of FCC rules since they are not sending a proper ID for their license. :)

I also think that the 5 channels listed are the correct ones, and the 781 freq listed on the database is in error.

Ok, the 781mhz freq was posted by the original run of PRO96COM against the system. It could have been an anomaly at the time. Can we get a weeks worth of monitoring to ensure that it is not just a fluke in the initial programming please?

Thanks for the additional TG's. As soon as we can ID the TG's, they'll be entered. Can't enter unknown use talkgroups :<

I will leave it running and we will see what it does there. I may try and get the 996 running with ID Tracker II on another machine and set it to recording the audio so we can ID the other talkgroups as well.

During the ASU game last weekend, I identified these talkgroups:

8002 – Encrypted
8003 – Downtown campus PD traffic was moved to this talkgroup. The talkgroup was only active on the Downtown site 101.
8004 – Stadium Security. This talkgroup was also patched to DPS “State” channel 460.225 100.0 PL.
8005 – Used as information channel before game.

Anyone within range of site 102 to verify it's at ASU's East campus in Mesa and to learn what the alternate control channel(s) may be?

Updated Talkgroups logged so far on the ASU Main Campus site 103:

8001 - ASU PD Dispatch
8002 - Unknown use
8003 - Unknown use
8004 - Unknown use
8005 - Unknown use
8006 - Unknown use
8007 - Unknown use
8008 - Unknown use
8101 - Unknown use
8201 - Unknown use
8301 - Unknown use
8401 - Unknown use

I have setup my 996 to monitor and record site 103 via ID Tracker II. I am also streaming it at http://stream.electropost.net:8000/icp963c.ogg. The only alpha tag on the stream so far is for tg 8001 which is ASU PD Dispatch (I'm calling it Ch1 for now unless we hear them call it something else).

I can't seem hear any of the other sites But I have added them them to the mix the 996 is searching.

If anyone that listens to the stream can catch a talkgroup ID not listed please post it with the time/date heard and we can add it to the list.

Roy,

Ok, question. I am listening just fine via Windows Media Player, but can't see any images for TG ID purposes. Do I need to download ID Tracker II in order to hear and see which group is active, or are you using something else to capture the TG ID for display?

Thanks,

Use Winamp when monitoring and then you'll see the alphatags.

Yep, AZScanner has it correct, you have to be running a streaming program that has a bit more substance than Windoze Media Player.

I wish I had set this combination up on Saturday morning, then I would have gotten the game traffic as well. I did not see anything but 8001 in the list the last time I checked (This afternoon/Mon). I will leave this up for now as I do enjoy listening to ASU PD while I am at work.

History note: Actually ASU PD was one of the first departments that I ever listened to back in the day. My first scanner was a Johnson 4 channel handheld that I bought back in the 1973-74 timeframe when was in High School. I had Tempe PD, Tempe FD and ASU PD in it via (Gasp!) crystals that I bought from either Radio SHack or Lafayette (They were both side by side in the old Hayden Plaza at Scottsdale Rd & Curry Rd in Tempe). When Lafayette went under as a company that store became known as Circuit Specialists, where I have worked for the last 17+ years. :)

I had the ASU PD crystal ordered because my father was an officer for ASU PD for 10 yearrs, from about `70 to `80, and I wanted to keep tabs on him at work. I have been scanning ever sense. I have lost count of the scanners I have owned over the years, and I currently have probably over 20 in the collection at this time.

I was able to confirm today that tg8004 is called "Events 1". Hard to beat when they key up on the talkgroup and say"Test one two on Events 1." :)

OK, so I downloaded the latest free version of Winamp.

I am listening to the URL.

The title shows 08001 - ASU PD - ASU PD Ch1 8001. It doesn't change. Where will I see the current TG that is active?

It shows the last active talkgroup and will chang when a new talkgroup becomes active. My Pro96comm log shows that 8001 was the only one active in the last 24+ hours. I set ID Tracker now so that it shows the last info and dosen't hold so it shows the control channel frequency unless there is a talkgroup talking.

Thanks Roy.

I'm really not that challenged :)

I'll be listening and watching as much as I can at my shop.

Does anyone know if it's possible to trunc track these frequencies on a PRO96/2096 - using custom tables in WIN96?

Sadly no. Both scanners CAN listen to those frequencies as conventional frequencies if you've unlocked the 700 frequencies using software but they cannot follow them as a trunked system. Makes for chopped conversations if it's busy.

Both scanners can be used to track and decode the control channel info using PRO96COM software but that doesn't let you listen while decoding (unless you have a 2nd scanner capable of being controlled by the software).
