This is an HOA-friendly ATAS-120A QTH, roof-mounted on top of a chimney. The antenna is secured to a 5' x 3.5' rectangular steel frame with stainless studs every 2", supporting 45 very-fine stranded 12ga silicone radials. These radials range from 20' to 55' in length and are laid out across the concrete roof tiles to remain virtually invisible from the street.
The feedline consists of KMR400 coax with a DX Engineering DXE-MC20-FC installed at the first foot. From there, it enters a 60' hidden run tucked under the roof peak center caps before dropping into the attic. This section is equipped with 10 clamp-on ferrites and a second DXE-MC20-FC. The final 30' run into the shack includes four additional clamp-ons for good luck.
Despite being a compromised vertical, it tunes rapidly and performs exceptionally well for DX on digital modes. I haven't detected any common-mode issues, though I did have to upgrade my home network from Cat5e to Cat8 to prevent RFI from dropping my speeds from 1 Gbps to 100 Mbps due to the antenna’s proximity to the house.
I truly wish Yaesu would develop a larger version of this antenna—perhaps with a 2" or 3" coil—capable of covering 6m to 80m. (I would love to beta-test, Yaesu!)
