ATCO Gas: A couple of days ago an ATCO Gas employee came by to swap out the gas meter. I have been monitoring all of the frequencies for them all around here in Grande Prairie and hadn't heard one voice communications only data sounds. So I asked him if they still use they're radios for voice comm's.
His reply was that ever since the fire in Fort MacMurray, they have switched over to a new radio system, but he doesn't know which one. So I might assume that they went with AFRRCS prov system. I have never seen any TG's or UID's for ATCO Gas at all. I see/read that they are still using their VHF and UHF system in Southern Alberta. Any thoughts or input about up here in Northern Alberta? 🤔

ATCO has switched over to a VHF NEXEDGE system.

According to a quick TAFL search the GP tower is on Kleskun Hill northeast of town

ATCO Power operates a P25 trunk system
ATCO Gas operates an NXDN system.

try this

TX934.00000Grande Prairie TowerATCO Gas – Communications Engineering APEC0001887725
RX943.00000Grande Prairie TowerATCO Gas – Communications Engineering APEC0001887724
That is not for voice, it is data, probably SCADA.

It's possible that they maybe encrypted now and your scanner is muting the voice traffic, or maybe they're just using cell phones more ? I have a tower by me, but it's a bit too far for me to monitor.

I doubt it. That would require reprogramming all the subscribers subscribers and consoles. Lots of time and effort if OTAP isn't available on the network.
