Difficult Agricultural Rescue Made By Parkesburg Fire March 23, 2010 On Monday March 15 at 09:35 the Atglen Fire Company, Station 26, along with Parkesburg for the Rescue, Ambulance and Medic 93 were dispatched to 5149 Upper Valley Rd for an agricultural rescue.
Rescue and Ambulance 28 arrived to find one patient pinned under a tractor. The patient was located up a steep hill in the woods making it impossible to access by vehicle and difficult to access on foot. Finally rescue equipment was loaded into Ambulance 28 and transported as close as possible for the rescue crew. Crews used air bags, cribbing, high lift jacks and Hurst tools to free the patient after and extended extrication while QRS 26 provided patient care.
The patient was taken to Lancaster General Trauma Center by helicopter with several possible injuries to their legs and pelvis.
