I'm new here so thought I'd best say hello. So, "Hello!"

I've been playing around with an ATS-20+ that I picked up on AliExpress for just £24 delivered to the UK a few days ago and decided to look into just how big I could go with an internal LiPo to increase runtime per charge.

As anyone who's looked inside one will already know, it's pretty cramped in there, but I've managed to source a 2.75Ah LiPo that actually fits very nicely. It's an EEMB 605575 purchased from Amazon UK for under £9. It doesn't touch anything it shouldn't if installed as far as it can go into the front left corner of the lower case. It even has the same connector wired to the same polarity as the original LiPo, so it's a simple drop-in replacement.

I'd have happily stuck it in place with a strip of double-sided sticky tape, but I have a 3D printer so made a custom open-faced caddy to mount it more securely. If you'd like to do the same, you can find the design on Thingiverse. Just search there for "ATS-20+ 2.75Ah" and you'll find it.

Runtime per charge should now be around 48 hours at sensible volume levels although I've yet to test it extensively. Whatever, it's going to be nearly a three-fold improvement over the 1Ah LiPo it came with. That one will end up in another project soon, so nothing's going to waste.

Next up will be a firmware upgrade to the version of 3.0.7g with a battery percentage monitor, plus it has the aesthetics and user interface I'm looking for.

Toodle pip from UK land!
