STOW, Ohio -- As children play outside in Stow, their parents are more watchful than usual. Wednesday police got a call about the seventh incident of child enticement since May 17.

Stow Police Captain Rick Myers said the seventh incident happened in the residential area of Serra Vista. A 13-year-old boy was approached by two men in an older red car and asked if he wanted a ride. When the boy didn't respond, the man shouted for him to get in. Myers said the boy ran to a friend's house for help.

"In all of these seven incidents the perpetrators have made verbal contact with the children, and in all the instances the kids have done the right thing they've run away and told an adult," Myers said.

Stow Police interviewed three men in connection with one enticement incident, but said no arrests have been made. The investigation is ongoing.

Thursday as word continued to spread, parents and grandparents watching their children play at a local playground were even more watchful than usual.

"I don't worry so much when they're in the house with me but when they're outside sure because it could happen in our neighborhood or any public place," grandparent Linda Vidd said.

Myers said the streets in Stow are still safe, but parents should take this opportunity to talk to their children about what to do when they are approached by a stranger.

The Stow Police Department is asking anyone with information on this child enticement incident or the previous ones to call the Detective Bureau at: 330.689.5734. Attempted Abductors on Stow Streets: Are Your Kids Safe? - WJW
