Was wondering if I am the only one experiencing this.

Ever since the newest update, I am experiencing Proscan crashing ALOT.

I am not able to read the error report because it completely shuts down very quickly.

The ONLY thing I am able to see before it closes completely is: GUI error.
So it obviously has something to do with GUI.

I am not even able to send the error report, because it crashes completely, before I can copy or email it

So my question is: How do I fix this?
And anyone else have this issue?
Is it because the newest update, or just a coincidence?

I’m running v16.4 on Win10 without any issues. What version and OS are you using? Any recent OS updates or upgrades?

Been using v16.4 extensively on Win10 since it was released, no problems at all.

Windows 10, no recent updates. Just the update to the Proscan.
Its only the Proscan thats crashing, nothing else.

Definitely something on my end then.

Anyone know what the GUI does for Proscan?
That seems to be the issues, that possibly is causing it.
Also, I noticed that it does it alot when screensaver pops on

Not quite sure what you are asking about the Graphical User Interface (GUI)...
Also, I noticed that it does it alot when screensaver pops on
Not quite sure what the two "its" are referring to...

Obviously, the ProScan GUI is the user interface to the application. That is why what you say is kind of broad and potentially a little misleading. I don't think you mean the entire GUI is causing the crash. Is there a particular screen that you are on on function that you are implementing when the crash occurs? The same goes for the screensaver part. What screen is up when the screensaver kicks in? Also, which screensaver are we talking about? The built-in Windows 10 screensaver or a third-party screensaver.

I suspect that Bob is going to need details if you expect him to give you any things to look at.

Another thing to try might be to uninstall ProScan (v)16.4 and go back a few versions. Does the same crash still occur? Just trying to correlate what is causing the crash. If you run Windows 10 in "Safe Mode" does the same crash occur? Try to think of some different things to try to see what the results are.

Probably best to email Bob for 1:1 support. That's usually what he posts here when a problem is reported.

It will be useful to share with him:
- info on your system HW & SW
- what else might be running along with Proscan
- if the error occurs repeatedly on a particular screen or across all the entire Proscan app
- what if anything you are doing when the error occurs
- what you see flash up (you mentioned a GUI error)
- what radio is connected
- if you have rebooted at least once since the error occured
- if you tried reinstalling the software since the error occured
- anything else that comes to mind

To start, I would disable your screensaver and see if that helps. I do not use a screensaver; instead, I turn off my screen. It saves the screen and saves electricity.

My desktop works great.

It crashes on my laptop.

I did turn off the screensaver, still crashes :(

I been trying to screenshot or record it crashing, so everyone sees what I am talking about.
But it crashes so fast, I am not able to.

I do see the "report error" button, I go to click that real quick, and I am too slow I guess, LOL.

I do see the text "GUI" in the error logs right before it crashes totally, so that is why I think it is possibly a GUI issue.
The laptop is an I5 with a decent graphics card, and 32 GB ram, so I know its a good laptop and can definitely handle Proscan.

There a way to get an error log in a file on the laptop somewhere?

Can you check the application log in Event Viewer after it crashes?

WX9RLT,
Can you do the following in order:
1. Send me the UnhandledExceptionLog.txt file. It's located in the ProScan folder.
2. Reboot the computer if you haven't done so already.
3. Insure Windows Update is up to date.
4. If it happens again then revert back to 16.3 to see if it does the same thing?

Got it. Thank you. It doesn't look like a ProScan problem at this point. I'm waiting to see if anyone else has this problem. Advise if the problem still happens with ver 16.3.

Where can I download version 16.3 at?

WX9RLT,
Did you get a chance to revert back to 16.3 to see if it crashes like 16.4?
The error report you sent basically says a generic error occurred in the GDI+ in a ScrollableControl. This error is happening deep in the .NET Framework. I suspect more of a system problem.

I haven't had the chance to mess with it yet. I plan on re-trying later on this week.

Much appreciated for the followup :)

Hope to have an answer later on this week :)
