Hi from a new novice,
I have an 1983 Honda Goldwing with a stock audio system that includes an intercom, CB, AM/FM and an Ipod adapter that replaced the Cassette Deck. I have also mounted a GPS that has an audio out with 1/8" mono plug. I would really like to be able to hear the GPS audio but would like to use it with the least modification possible. The best hookup would be through the passanger intercom mic as that will interrupt all other audio. After a web search or two I found info that lead me to understand that it will probably work if I patch the GPS audio out to the passanger mic via a RadioShack Attenuating Dubbing Cable (43-2152). I picked up the cord yesterday and because of curosity I decided to check the resistance in it. To my surprise I found that I have zero resistance or full continuity across all contacts on the jacks. It also doesn't matter if I reverse the meter leads. Now I'm a novice so I guess that maybe the way its supposed to be but I really doubt.
Before patching it in I ran a test on the GPS audio by patching it into a headset. The GPS audio passed the headset test with no issues. I then inserted the Dubbing Cord in the circuit expecting at least a whisper but I got absolutely nothing.
The questions are:
Is the cord probably OK as it should show no resistance and have continuity across all connections?
Does anyone have any other suggestions for how to get the GPS audio into the headset without losing all other audio?
THANKS!!!
