Hi all,

I made a list of the Attorney General's Office frequency assignments and am presently scanning and logging hits to determine which ones may be active. I could sure use some help here so let's work as a team. When the job is done it'll be added to the database for reference.

Please note repeater inputs are included but need not be scanned of course, they're just for reference. The transmitter data is not site specific, again just for reference.

Note the VHF frequencies are all "splinters" bracketed by standard bandplan assignments so all should be set to NFM since your scanner lacks selectivity in FM to distinguish between them. In my area the first is bracketed by active municipal paratransit frequencies so this should be taken into account to avoid mistakes in logging.

Fine if you wish to post your findings here for cross reference but don't forget to send them to warren@kb2vxa.net so I may compile them. This may take a LONG time so please be patient and keep at it, your efforts will be appreciated by all.

For the VHF-Hi and UHF channels, see APCO's "Draft list of all standardized Public Safety Designated I/O Channels all bands" (linked to from http://www.apco911.org/frequency/siec/documents/documents.htm).

For some of the UHF-T channels, see http://www.radioreference.com/modules.php?name=RR&aid=1836.

As per John Burricelli's NJSP PDF (http://wc2em.net:8080/scanner/NJSP.pdf), the balance of the UHF-T channels (those you listed above 500 MHz) are expected to become interop for the Delaware River region. (Of course he has the others and more in his PDF too.)

Morris County has put the UTAC freqs into their radio plan. I don't think they are active using them though. The Del. River region and a couple of others were supposed to go live in 2005 (with the balance of the state in 2006), I don't think any of them are at this point, except for the North East section.

I can tell you that Warren & Sussex counties are getting what was described to me as a "Radio Box" where you plug in HT's from different bands/radio systems and you can all talk to each other. The AG office may have opted going this route in this area since the radio's are spread out over VHF Low/High & some UHF.

Hi Jim and all,

Thanks for the links, everything but the 500MHz frequencies have now been tagged. When I get a moment I'll research the transmitter sites and edit this post accordingly.

1 - Fixed NJ State Police Rt 73
Berlin, NJ CAMDEN County 39-48-14.0 N, 074-55-57.0 W

2 - Fixed NJ Dept of Transportation Rt 37

3 - Fixed Hunterdon County Communications Center
Cherryville, NJ HUNTERDON County 40-33-16.0 N, 074-54-14.0 W

4 - Fixed NJ State Police Rt 130 and Rt 295
Bordentown, NJ BURLINGTON County 40-08-01.0 N, 074-43-01.0 W

5 - Fixed NJ State Police Carls Corner

FYI, UTAC 4, 5 and 6 transmitters are atop a mountain in West Orange with a whole lot of power, they should be heard over a VERY wide area. I have this sneaky feeling they're on the old WBTB-TV channel 68 tower, the view from the site is breathtaking.

So far no activity except for a few CWIDs on a couple of VHF frequencies but I started this only yesterday morning.
