I just wanted to tell everyone this nice and easy way to record their radio scanner or Internet scanner.

I have used many VOX recorders before and they always seems to cut stuff off here and there, which gets annoying.

Though with the new Audacity beta, you can have it record constantly than simply stop your recording and go to Effect - Truncate Silence, and even with the default options, it turns you file in to a VOX-like recording.

This method never seems to cut anything off, so it sounds more fluent than any VOX recorder I have ever used (I've tried Vox2File, XCorder, Scanner Recorder, Audacity's Beta VOX Feature, and many more).

Using this feature, I have recorder for over 44 hours and cut the entire thing down to 1hr 31min with this method.

EDIT: Anyone know any way to timestamp the file?

You should try to adjust the sensitivity settings in VOX recorder... I never had trouble. What I do is adjust the record time after a transmission to record a 2 sec pause of silence.

That beta looks interesting for some things here.

BcTool works with both your scanners.
I feel it's the best logging recording software around for the DMA Uniden scanners.
Time stamps, will resume scanning after a certain period if wanted (dead air), and will create files by date, TG, etc.

Well, I've tried it over and over, and always get weird problems.

At first it was just cutting things off the beginning of the transmissions, even though it was holding down a single channel at the time.

Then, I started recording a buzzing noise once in a while, that even other recording programs picked up.

I talked about both problems on their Yahoo Group but still can't seem to get it worked out complely.
