Audio Feeds and Narrowband

Has anyone given any thought to this? Will we simply be able to turn up the volume on our recievers/scanners and compensate for the lower deviation of the transmitters tuned to narrowband?

If not, what will we do. There will be a lot of useless scanners out there if not.

You are correct that narrowband channels will give a lower level audio on a scanner listening in the current 25kh bandwith.

Yes, you should be able to raise the level.

But if some channels are wide band (current 25kh) and some narrowband (12.5kh), on a standard scanner you will have some channels loud & some soft.

Raising the level will make the 12.5kh channels louder but may lead to distorted audio on the 25kh channels in order to here the 12.5kh channels better.

Best is to have a scanner that does both 25 & 12.5kh or you may need to use audio processing & a compressor to compensate for audio level differences. See here: Managing Audio Dynamics and Leveling
