Morning, I have two issues with audio using ProScan. My setup is a 436HP with an audio cable connected to a laptop running ProScan on Windows 10. Below are the two issues I am having and need some help with:

1: On the recording, there are stuttering about every 5-10 seconds on a recording. The audio itself is fine (other than issue #2) but there are just dropouts every few seconds. Audio through web/remote feed is stable without the dropouts. Seems to only be on the recordings.

2: On all audio; streams or recording there is a bit of a hiss on the sound that is not present from the scanner itself when not connected to the laptop. It is present with or without any active radio transmissions. I am guessing there are the notch filters but I am an audio noob and have no clue how to use them or any other options to clean up the audio.

If using mp3 try lowing the mp3 bitrate if set high or change to wav format to see if it improves. Perhaps reboot the computer.

The hiss can be generated from the cables, or sound card. In ProScan, check that the unused input (right or left channel) in the Audio Control tabs are turned down to 0%. You may want to try to turn up the scanner volume a bit and turn down the Win Mixer input a bit to compensate. I don't think the notch filters will be effective in this case since a hiss is more of a white noise type with various frequencies components. I've heard a few times that an audio isolation transformer inline between the scanner audio cable and the computer sound card solved the hissing problem.

Make sure your audio cables are shielded. Clean up your drive of old temp files and cookies. Defragment if it's a hard drive, optimize it if its a SSD. Close any unnecessary programs/utilities running in the background.
