Hi,

Might someone explain a bit for me the "Audio Option" column in Sentinel. (HP-1)
I am setting up monitoring our local PD, FD, and Highway Dept. in Sudbury / Middlesex County / Mass

I see that what I imported from RR has NAC 443 for our PD, and
CTSS 127.3Hz for our FD

The Highway Dept. has nothing in this column for Audio Option, and
the other Sudbury FD Freq. (33.74) also has nothing.

What is the significance of these Audio options, and how utilized please ?
Should i concern myself with he blank ones ?

I do what can probably be termed as very, very, basic monitoring, and am interested
in most anything i can pick up. No "filtering" of anything that I don't want.

So, how should I handle these audio options ?
Just leave alone re whatever is imported, and leave blanks alone ?

Is there a general Default setting for Audio Option, or...?

Thanks, as always,
Bob

I checked with a conventional system and found that is where you can select Any, Analog or Digital audio. If you select Analog, you can enter CTCSS or DCS. If you select Digital, you can enter NAC. You should see the CTCSS, DCS, or NAC for the frequency in that column. If the user is using carrier squelch or a code has not been entered in the database, that entry will be blank. If more than 1 user is within range on that frequency you will hear only the one with that particular code.

I am using HomePatrol Sentinel v2.03.02 and do not see an Audio Option column anywhere. Where do you see that? All of my systems are P25. I will try setting up an analog system and see if I see anything there.

I think he's looking at conventional channels. Those have the Audio Option and is where you would select Digital or Analog and then any PL or NAC type coding for the channel. I see this in my old Sentinel version for the HP-1

Audio Option is also in the Setinel for the x36/sds if you have conventional channels setup...

In simple terms Bob... CTSS 127.3Hz is telling you it is an analog channel...
NAC 443 is telling you it is a digital channel...
You Should not have to change any of that... It tells the radio how to configure the audio for the channel.

Hi,

Thanks.

Just so I can learn a bit: What happens, or what does it mean, if blank ?

Regards,
Bob

Just for your information, CTCSS is continuous tone coded squelch system, DCS is digital coded squelch, and NAC is network access code. If the Audio Option column is blank, you will hear anything on that frequency. I misspoke earlier. I should have said All, Analog, or Digital. If you select All, the column will remain blank.

It would probably be just a plain old analog (Conventional) channel... Like the old days...
