Conventional eh? Interesting they have Med 9 listed as I've been seeing a number of medical related channels over the last year showing up P25 as well including various med channels and the VHF medical related ones as well, in other areas though.

There were some in Rockbridge and I believe in Bath as well, possibly elsewhere too.

Aren't these freqs existing ones for them?

I saw this.....Yes, Augusta Co. already is licensed for these frequencies as trs, i.e., KDA670, KDFY373, WNMW815 and WPKQ976..maybe more. Notice the unit is "1" which I assume to be a base. Whatever is going on will result in county taxpayers paying for it.

Shame really as the coverage is phenomenal on their analog. I pick them up in places out here even. Going digital will degrade that significantly.

So the freqs are licensed both ways then? Sounds weird and taxpayers always end up with the short end. LOL

Time will tell.

Rockingham went Edacs with ProVoice and ESK a number of years back.
Rockbridge is in the process of building-out their UHF P-25 trunked system now. (It is being staged at the Harris factory west of Lynchburg now.)

Maybe DMR wasn't working so good for them?

I wasn't aware anyone but Staunton was using DMR in terms of county ops?

The license doesn't appear to list Staunton so I'm not sure what you mean. Is Staunton switching over to this as well?

I have Rockbridge plugged in but haven't picked anything up yet. It will be interesting as at least one of their new freqs is Alleghany's. It being on North Mtn I think will cause issues.

I was thinking the Rockingham County & Harrisonburg City's arrangement.
And Region 2000 (Amherst, Bedford Counties with Lynchburg City).

Augusta County and the cities of Staunton and Waynesboro splitting the cost of a P25 system.

They would retain their full autonomy of comm dispatch and operations, but having a shared system would allow easier interop.

Not to mention avoiding the cost of three independent communications systems in today’s tight budget local government environment. A shared system would make the most sense on several levels.

That would certainly make sense if they do it. Alleghany could have joined a regional system including Bath and Rockbridge but chooses to have their own instead and won't even spend the money to do it right and get necessary towers for adequate coverage.

Hopefully they'll be more sensible.

Plus if they stay UHF for their system they should be interoperable and maybe even roam on multiple systems coming online including Rockbridge, Alleghany and even maybe WV SIRN which I believe borders them. If Bath does the same you could add another too. Maybe even Highland as well.

Who knows.
