AULT, Colo. (CBS4) - Two people died Monday evening in Weld County when a pickup truck collided with a semi-truck hauling logs.

Two others were injured and transported to nearby hospitals.

The accident happened shortly after 5 p.m. at Highway 14 and Weld County Road 31 when the white pickup truck tried to cross the intersection but didn’t make it.

A man injured in the crash told bystanders, who rushed to help, that his pregnant wife and daughter were hurt. Authorities said neither survived. A third man was airlifted to Northern Colorado Medical Center. His condition wasn’t released late Monday night. The pregnant woman was apparently driving.

The victims’ names haven’t been released.

Thumbs Up for the Trooper calling it like it is;

CSP Trooper Nate Reid said motorists need to pay attention to their surroundings and cut out distractions.

“We as drivers have an obligation to pay attention to all signs,” whether they’re flashing or not, he said. “A flashing light might help (drivers) be aware of the sign but at the end of the day, it’s a person who has to make the decision to stop,” Reid said.

So, the next person won't run a Flashing Stop Sign knowingly?
Would that have worked down in Colorado Springs where 2 teens were killed when the driver (drinking) was going 80 in a 40 (flashing speed limit sign?) when they ran a Stop Sign?
