One man died and another is close to death tonight after a dune buggy flipped over west of Ault.

According to Weld County Undersheriff Margie Martinez, the man who died at the scene was 36 years old. The other, a 45-year-old man, was flown by Medivac Helicopter to North Colorado Medical Center in Greeley.

At the scene of the crash near Weld County Road 23 and Colo. 14, Ault-Pierce firefighters helped Weld Sheriff deputies investigate while bright spotlights lit the area casting long shadows against the overturned dune buggy.

The rollover occurred around 7:30 p.m. on the property of the driver, the 45-year-old man who was flown to the hospital.

Martinez said both men were in the dune buggy when it made a sharp turn, causing the vehicle to turn over on its side, and roll over one of the men. Family members of the men came to the scene while it was still being investigated. The names of victims have not been released.
