Better Then

Better then the million dollar systems thats in place now, by motorola. They tired motorola and they do not like it. Simple theory, perhaps you should have done your homework before you assume their ma-comm system was a bad idea. Its funny because a good portion of these agencies were on motorola trunked systems, whats that say???

Don't get me wrong the ma-comm system might not be as good or as bad you never now until it gets put in. But after serveral systems failures and switch to each others systems when this happened you can understand their frustration.

Additional

These are what their droping to go to ma-com

http://www.radioreference.com/apps/db/?sid=587 -Aurora's current public saftey system

http://www.radioreference.com/apps/db/?sid=592 -Naperviles current public saftey system

Thats kinda what I like to know what mode their going to use? I think they like the lake county system and what to build it off that platfrom as well as will county. They like the fact that they can get replacement parts if need be and be more compatiable with surronding towns.

Its seems as if motorola was giving them more trouble then what it was worth and they wanted, at least when I spoke with the gentlemen a system that could link mutiple city's in the area all together to be a tad bit more universal. The N. aurora fd now has icom apco25 vhf radios in their squads for beter interoperatability their were lucky if they ever got out on the 800 mhz system with out relaying to a command bus or somthing similar. As far as the new system goes now for aurora and napervile I have no idea where N. aurora stands on any of this, because they will have to switch over to the ma-com system or be left in the dark for their own options.

I can't vouch for OpenSky or any of the newer Ma/Com offerings, but I've experienced a few ProVoice EDACS systems that sound great and and work great, the way they were intended. So just because it's Ma/Com doesn't mean it's going to be bad. Ultimately sometimes it doesn't matter what vendor you choose, some locals just present very difficult situations that prevent optimal system performance. How well the system performs basically breaks down to how well the engineers did their homework, and what the realistic expectations of the end user are.

I heard someone having problems with a motorola trunking system this week and another user having issues with analog simplex but that does not mean they are always useless.

I agree with both of you above all systems will have bugs regardless of who makes it and deploys it.I have heard great things about Ma/Com EDACS systems.
