AURORA, Colo. -- Aurora police are investigating an officer-involved shooting that took place late Sunday night.
During the evening, officers obtained information as to the whereabouts of a man wanted on two outstanding felony drug warrants.
Shortly before 10:00 p.m., officers observed the wanted individual in a parked vehicle in the 800 block of North Oswego St. Uniformed officers approached the suspect to take him into custody. At some point during the arrest, two officers shot the suspect, who died at the scene, police said.
The officers involved in the shooting were not injured, although police did find a handgun in the suspect's vehicle. It was not immediately clear if the suspect fired at officers or how many shots were fired.
Investigators collected a firearm from the suspect’s vehicle.
Both officers involved in the shooting have been placed on administrative leave, pending the outcome of an investigation.
Police did not identify the suspect who was killed.
