Austin P25 System - Will BC796D Work?

I found a good deal on a couple of 796D's ($200 each) and was wondering if they will receive Austin's P25 system. My old BC250D doesn't work with the Austin sys, and I don't want to invest in something I can't use locally. If they DO work in Austin, I only need 1 ( I've got a 396t, too) anybody is interested in the other, I can let you know where it's at.

In theory, yes, they should work on the Austin/TC P25 system. In practice, they are horrible performers on simulcast systems and will yield you virtually no recoverable audio. On top of that, the one I have has just godd*mn terrible receive sensitivity, noticeably worse than a 780 or 785 which share the same RF circuitry. My honest recommendation would be to save your pennies and get a 996T.
