• Effective immediately we will be deleting, without notice, any negative threads or posts that deal with the use of encryption and streaming of scanner audio.

    We've noticed a huge increase in rants and negative posts that revolve around agencies going to encryption due to the broadcasting of scanner audio on the internet. It's now worn out and continues to be the same recycled rants. These rants hijack the threads and derail the conversation. They no longer have a place anywhere on this forum other than in the designated threads in the Rants forum in the Tavern.

    If you violate these guidelines your post will be deleted without notice and an infraction will be issued. We are not against discussion of this issue. You just need to do it in the right place. For example:

Is there any way possible to receive Austin PD from far northwest Harris County? I'm basically on the border between Harris and Waller Counties.

I'm probably still to far out to even think about about trying.

Unless you can pick up the Austin/Travis County regional radio system, you are pretty much out of luck. I'll do some checking, but I think they have disconinued the simulcast of the old UHF frequencies.

www.scancentex.com has an online scanner, but thats only for FD/EMS traffic

On good tropo days, I pick up most of the sites from Navasota. I have been able to track APD clearly with my Pro-96 and a RS 800 antenna from ground level on these days. I have not picked up the legacy UHF repeaters on those same days.

Per the CenTexScan yahoo group;

APD is no longer simulcasting on any UHF frequencies.
