If you have been considering whether updating your scanner to the new Uniden Version 3 update, do it. The audio performance is great and can hear great audio now.

Joseph, I'm having major problems with trying to get the update. Have you been listening to the Round Rock PD? Just wondering if it will improve their radio problems. FD comes in nice and clear, but PD sounds like crap. What area of the Austin area are you in?

I can monitor Williamson County, Round Rock Police Department and all others very well and sometimes very rarely one radio communication might sound very bad.

This new upgrade version, Version 3 has improved the audio performance greatly. It almost sounds as good as analog.

I am located in the vicinity of FM 685 and Kelly Lane near Falcon Point by 130. The upgrade is not too difficult to install. You must have registered your radio on Uniden's site and previously installed and upgraded to Version 2 before you can install Version 3. If you need help upgrading your radio and can walk through it over the phone.

Slight correction: You can go from V1.x to V3.00.00 without doing V2. However, you do have to apply the v1.04.12 update in order to display an ESN on the radio (which you need to get a V3 registration key).

Thanks for correcting me because I have recommended the Uniden BCD396T radio to a local TV News Media and I was wondering what firmware version they would receive on the radios that they would receive. It will be a lot of upgrading and programming for me.

Hoping to have the v3.01.00 out by Halloween (fixes the mode issue and adds back in C-Ch tracking for800 MHz standard systems).
