My last SUV had clear windows & I used a " thru the glass " antenna for monitoring the scanner. My new car has tinted windows all the way around. will I notice a significant signal loss with tinted glass or am I worring for nothing. thank you for your time

If I recall, factory tinted glass isn't a problem, but aftermarket tint has to be trimmed to allow for the base of the antenna.
Don't quote me on that tho, maybe someone else will know?

In my limited knowledge of car tint:
If it's metallic tint, then it's going to block radio signals, if it's ceramic it'll be ok, RF speaking. If you adhere to the glass you should be good, if you adhere to a film you're asking for trouble, with the weight of the antenna or the box on the inside pulling on all the tint for that window. I do know someone with an early 2000s Ford Explorer that has had success with thru the glass and factory tint.

If you decide through the glass isn't an option you can make an NMO install just as clean and select antennas that blend well, they just won't look like you've got an old cellular or car phone on board.
