As scanner user I was wondering about my 2006 Dodge with U-connect (TM) factory
hands free Cell phone system.
I really like it for the Bluetooth connection to my cellphone.
Hop in the car and connects automatically and away you go for hands free ops.

Is this a factory radio trans/reciever in car repeater system essentially relaying your cell phone conversations?
Does this sytem use its own frequencies or mimic your cellphone freqs?
Obviously it has to read your personal cell phone freqs when paired up with system or does Bluetooth itself do connecting via another frequency?
Hopefully it is not scannable as would hate to be driving down the road and guy in next car has scanner listening.
Anyone have some basic info on how these factory Bluetooth in car phone systems actually work with your cellphone?

No it is not monitorable, because it is a digital transmission that cannot be decoded by any scanner on the market. however, there is a possibility that someone with a Bluetooth handsfree device could pair with your phone if it is set as visible.

This was an actual issue a while back with particular make of phone.

Also, Bluetooth is low power and has a very short range (30-20 ft or less).

BT has two power/range classes, 10 and 100 meter.

I bet if you Google Bluetooth and WIKI you will learn more than you ever wanted to know.
