The only FCC licenses for the school district are for low power, 2 watts erp. That suggests that they may rent on a commercial system or repeater or that they just use cellular these days. The school district here rents service on a repeater.

You'll want to turn on close call during bus run hours and see if you can track them down.

I 'think' they used to be on Wells Communications Pinnacle Mountain LTR system, however, that system has recently gone quiet. Not sure where they may have moved to. It is entirely possibly they made the jump to a DMR or NEXEDGE system in the area, or they could have just switched over to another vendor's LTR system. There aren't a whole lot of UHF LTR systems left on the air around here; the more active ones seem to be BRC's Grafton System as well as Goin' Mobile's systems.

I beg to differ. Still operating as a dual mode (LTR and LTR-Passport) site.

0-05-028 and 0-05-029 are school bus talkgroups. I haven't identified the district(s) yet.

Sorry, I should clarify...

Wells has (or had) two systems on Pinnacle Mountain. The dual-mode system is on the air with several talk groups reporting on channels 05 (452.4625) and 07 (462.475).

The other system was an LTR only system that was three channels. LCN01 was 451.550, LCN05 was 451.750 (now hearing DMR on this frequency), and LCN10 was 452.675.

There were school buses on LCN01, TG 0-01-050 but I had never been able to identify who they were. Most other users were homed on LCN10. This is the system that I haven't heard on the air in a while.

Ahh, that makes sense. I would make some further observations on the frequencies mentioned, but this thread started out being a query about the Averill Park school district, so I won't take it further OT.

I found them!

Averill Park Wells Poestenkill 0-01-050

Sorry about the unclear spacing. Apparently the forum software strips out "extra" spaces between words.
