TG 12416 AVL is showing up in Cache co today with the buzzy tones of Auto Vehicle Location. Is this SOP in the Wasatch front? And more to the point who uses it, and hw can it work thru UCAN, since I thought the ~917 MHz variety used location techniques that would seem to go wrong thru a repeater/affilaited system?
Inquiring minds want to know!
thanks!

Once in a while I'll unlock this from my lists to see if it has changed. Thats about all I know about it.

Note the unit ID numbers displayed by trunker or unitrunker, and which voice talkgroups they use. This is how I identified 12384 as belonging to Layton. I believe with 12416, I could not find their unit ID's using any voice TG's, but it's been a couple of years since I tried.

With trunker, you create a 7202grp.txt file in which only the AVL TG's are identified, run it for a day or two, then all the radios which have used those TG's can be determined by checking the 7202ids.txt file.

Let's think thus thru - what logic is it that only 2 UHP cars/HTs etc have AVL?
Maybe the Governor's escort or some other VIP might demand that. But there has not been a confirmed connection there.

So logic dictates that there must be some other explanation as to these 2 RID's showing up on the AVL TGRP sending AVL data, and not using voice TGRPs. This makes it seem that the AVL sending device is a stand-alone device, not part of a regular radio.

My short list of RID's only has UCAN ENgineers at 40206 and 37087 Adult Probation bracking these 2. Frankly the engineers idea makes more sense - who else woudl want to play with something like this.

Anyone else have loggings of RID's near in sequence to these 2?
