Anyone else noting the great reception coming in this evening on LW? It seems to be one of those rare nights for great longwave broadcast reception in the Midwest. I'm getting fair audio tonight on 162 (France), 171 (Morocco), 183 (Germany), 189 (Iceland), 198 (BBC), 207 (Germany), 216 (France), 234 (presumed Luxembourg) & 252 (Algeria at S8). Beacon QRM seems higher than usual too when listening to these channels. Wow!!!

Yes, I suppose the 500 footer does help here :) I was curious so I pulled out the old DX-440 and I'm getting weak audio with the internal antenna on 216 & 252!

My gosh-such a strong signal! That is awesome kat. All I get here is a loud buzz. Nice noise floor too-you really have that antenna proper! I envy you that antenna for sure:) Bring us more! You just don't see LW like this.

It's fed by a Par EF-SWL. I didn't have enough room to stretch out the supplied ling wire, so I ran a shorter wire to the end of a 30 horizontal rain gutter that runs northwest to southeast. Pretty good low-noise performance considering.

I'm in a condo. There's a lot I cannot do, antenna-wise.

Well, I never expected to hear "Money for Nothing" by Dire Straits on longwave, but it's coming in right now on 189 kc - courtesy of Iceland! An interesting assortment of music they are playing. 0315 UTC

Things may be hoppin here too..thanx for the tip. I'm hearing some "action" on158, 174, and definately
189 khz N. California. Definate broadcast signal, not "splash" from AM BCB local stations. Nulled 'em
out..and 189 pretty solid.
higher freqs ( 13 thru 18 mhz) been better every day, too. Hope it's a trend!!

Was at the "Transmitter Quanset hut" in Rosarita Baja Ca 1967..was like bein in an MRI machine. RF everywhere...lots of it...made ya feel drunk or nuts or both.
