I'm not familiar with the scanners on your tag. But, it would be my guess that; you should use Manual and see what it is set to. Then, lower it a couple of ticks below that. Also, take an entire bank and import the entire AWINS system, complete with all of the talk groups. Make wildcard active. I am fortunate. I live on the back side of Camp Robinson at a fairly high elevation. Get good reception. Hope this helps.

30156 is secondary 1 ch8
30157 is secondary 2 ch9

To my knowledge it hasn't changed. I will try and verify soon.

It hasnt. They still call them channel 8 and channel 9, even though that was from two radio systems ago :)
156 is Downtown/Midtown, and 157 is Northwest/Southwest. I was just pointing out they are not Dispatch, they are Law-Tac. Ive changed it in my scanner already, since I always keep dispatch on, and law tac and law talk turned off when Im just watching tv and not wanting to hear all the BS.

Yea, Im just across the street from you at 54th and Camp Robinson on top of the hill. Ill try lowering it down a little but and see what it does.
The default was 8. Following the manual, to monitor the error rate, it appears the optimum setting for Metro Simulcast is 2. The scanner on auto, automatically adjusts it from 8 to the optimum level for each site, so this step isnt really nessessary on my scanner. It has already set itself to 1.8 all by itself.

As an added note, the Pulaski Co. Sheriffs, Maumelle PD and FD, Sherwood PD and FD, and the individual hospitals are still using the old Little Rock Public Service analogue Motorola system. Lots of traffic still on that.
Maumelle transitioned to AWIN back in December. Are they still using analog at this point? Also, do we know if all of the various LR/NLR city services and electric companies have fully transitioned to AWIN or are still using analog?

Maumelle is still using the analog system. I have found no traffic on their appropriated AWINS frequencies.

Thanks for the update. We had confirmed both the PD and FD on AWIN back in December and I logged PD traffic in January. I guess they are working on some remaining issues.

Who updates this page: Arkansas Wireless Information Network (AWIN) - The RadioReference Wiki

I went to Russellville today, and was picking up some towers from the database, but they arent showing on this map. Seems like lots of sites have been added since this page was done.

Just for reference, I was able to receive the Shinall Mountain site all the way to Adkins. The Old Motorola 2 system on Ozark point was coming in with some static as well.

I was using a 5db gain wilson 800Mhz antenna on the roof of a Sprinter (pretty tall). Quite impressive.

I was up north of jerusalem in the mountains and was able to pick up everyone running off of the lr trunk system. That was with my pro 106 with the rs 800mhz ant. I was amazed.

Maumelle PD just put out a dispatch on Awin. I just reprogrammed them into my BCT15 to see if they are still on the old system too.

These past few weeks, I am finding that I have to reorganize my playlists on a weekly basis. Usually, when I update my database on Sunday mornings.

Anyone can edit the wiki. I hae an Google Earth file with the latest AWIN sites on it and if anyone wants to play with it and fine tune it and put it in the wiki, let me know, I will send it to ya.

Looks like radio shack is starting to list the whistler brand scanners on the website. Go and check it out!

I've seen. $599.99 is a little steep, if you ask me. I got my RS PRO-18 for $159.99 last summer when RS was dumping their inventory while GRE was going out of business. If I'm going $600, at present; I'll go Uniden. Wait for others to break the Whistler bullet in.

599.00 is steep and it doesn't look like its apco phase 2 capable. I think i will be spending my money on a uniden as well. I was lucky with my rs pro 106 I picked it up for 250.00 some time ago.

I like my 106 however it does seem to be having issues with the simulcast from my house. Simulcast works fairly decent if I am around town.

Almost all the traffic on simulcast, is on Shinall Mountain as well. Maybe if you turn off simulcast, and just scan Shinall Mountain site, it will sound better?

I just heard a Maumelle Fire dispatch on Awin as well, and it didnt come over the old system, or at least it didnt stop my scanner. I would say Maumelle is on Awin for sure.

What is really frustrating is that all of central Arkansas is changing over to AWINS. However, none of the entities involved seem to be doing it at the same time. Don't know who will appear on AWINS at what time or for what reason. I am assuming that is a matter of cash. Those that have it are able to complete the transition in the proper manner. Those short of funds are having to wait. Just a guess. But, I'll bet it's not too far from the truth.
