The Greenwood fire dept. was was at a fire investigation at the Greenwood Park Mall today. Command was asked to go to TAC4 on a B radio. Before I call the dept I wanted to see if anyone knew what was up. I know there has been talk about switching the fire dept to digital radios. Infact they already have some of the radios. Anyway anyone know what they were referring to?

The B is just the radio's unit number. Example Engine 91-A 91-B 91-C etc. are the WT's on the engine. The Tac-4 is a TA Simplex 800 frequency. I have it in my scanner. I will look it up and let you know.

Thanks! I have been listening to them everyday for three years and have never heard this before. Caught me off guard. I talked to the chief a few months ago about the digital radios. I thought maybe they were testing.

No, No testing. GFD's chief likes to move his traffic to a dozen different channels every time he's on a run. White River's does the same thing. If im not mistaken the TA feature could be several different frequencies. I will check my radio and let you know.

Any idea what type of radios they have? I know there are many agencies that are using XTS's that have different zones programmed into the ABC switch on the radio. For example TAC4 might be channel 4 in zone B.
