I just bought a Pro-97 today and so far I like it. I have one problem though. I have trouble seeing the display when the backlight is off but it seems that you can only set it to stay on for up to 20 seconds.
Is there any way to set it to stay on for as long as you have the scanner turned on?
Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Tony

THANKS! I held down the light button until it beeped and now the light stays on. I don't know why I didn't think of it because I did it on my Pro-95.

Tony / How much did it affect your battery life on the 95 when you kept the light on ? Also, did the light ever burn out, and how many hours would you guess that you used the light on the 95?

Are you sure about that? We're talking about the PRO-97, right?

I just got mine; pressing and holding the light button until it beeps caused my light to stay on for about 23 seconds before going out. If there is activity on the channel, that seems to extend the time the light stays on, but regardless of what I do, it doesn't stay on continuously . Even the Win 97 software doesn't seem to have an option for a continuous backlight.

See page 62 of the manual.

The only thing I can say about page 62 of the manual is

However, the first few times I tried it, it wouldn't stay on. Then after I posted the above comments, it seemed to work fine. Then this morning, it stayed on for quite a while, but then I happened to look over at it, and the light was out again. So I don't know what's up with this.
