bad yonkers radio in the bronx

i was hearing my scanner this mornig arond 10:30a.m. they had a car crash on the deagan exprss way in the bronx the 50 pct in the bronx caled yonkers p.d. for held so yonkers p.d. had to go in to the bornx nypd used the yonkers p.d. radio to transmit the radio had very bad audio like the radio was under water happy holidays

Yonkers is weird...I listen to them sometimes when I'm at work in White Plains, and I go nuts playing with the Sound Quality on the BC250. Even my Pro 96 has a hard time with Yonkers PD...the way it seems, if you don't have a full signal, they ain't going to sound too good

REPLY-YONKERS PD RADIO PROBLEM

The poor radio quality was probably the Yonkers PD portable that was given to the NYPD 50th Precinct located near Manhattan College.
My reception of YPD with the BC785 is perfect, even with the factory antenna here in the east side near Tuckahoe vicinity. The portable scanners just aren't as good as base models, in fact I wanted one, and a dealer advised against it due to sensitivity problems. I had bought the Pro96 and it didn't completely decode YPD, so I returned it.
Kieran, do you work at the front entrance? Will say hi next time I get on jury duty.
