That is correct! That is the rumor going around the Center. We are supposed to be moving to Hunt Valley sometime this year, so that they can re-do the center. We are supposed to be getting all new consoles and some new equipment.

The County 9-1-1 Center will be making a what I believe to be a permamnent move to the location of the radio shop in Hunt Valley. Last I heard it's not going to be for a couple of years. The County is supposed to be going digital once they move.

It's not going to be a permanent move, just temporary. They told us it would take only about a month, so that they can install the new consoles and renovate the rooms. They said that it is supposed to be in July, but then I heard August, so who knows. They just showed us the consoles that we are getting the other day and they look awesome. I think that we are going completely computerized with everything. We are not getting a digital system anytime in the future, because no one wants to pay for it.
Yea, I heard sometime last summer on the news that Baltimore County is in debt so bad, that they will not be getting a digital system neither though they need it because of all the dead spots...How in debt is the county is unknown to my knowledge....100 million 200 ????? "possibly"

Baltimore City, which is approximately only a fourth of the georaphical area of Baltimore County, has 9 towers for their digital system, while Baltimore County only has 8 for their analog system. I say they need at least 12, but that's just a guess. They could very well need more, especially up north. Even more so it they're switching to digital. Kapish?

Nice correction on the "Capisce," Mo....has a bit more impact w/ the right spelling 
I'm actually very happy that digital is not coming in short order - would just mean a host of encrypted TGs. We are fortunate to enjoy so much communication in the clear.

They will be getting a digital system, just not in the near future, but two years down the road it's a huge possibility. It'll happen, it's just a matter of when.
Also, like I said before, digital has less range than analog. Why do you think Anne Arundel Co. needs more towers before they can go digital? If Baltimore County has deadspots with the analog, then they're definately going to have deadspots with digital unless they build more towers. My point is, a digital system won't necessarilly fix the deaspots.

Are they still going to use the big tower down in Towson...or are they going to build a new one in Hunt Valley?

It happens to be that Mo, DoctorDave, TinEar and many others on this board do actually have inside information that you are not aware of, and, almost always know what they are talking about. You have a gripe, take it private.
The forum is open to anything. Many times the discussion strays from one thing to another within the same topic. This is the nature of the forum, and the nature of radio communications. Everything is linked. So, the discussion strays. It is not a cover up for "a lack of knowledge" or a cover up for some "non-sensible" information.
So, therefore:
If you want to come here and communicate like a normal human being, fine. You are welcomed, and we will do everything we can do to help you resolve your issues, questions, etc.
If you want to come here as a baby seeking attention, please don't bother. Believe it or not, every one of us is a professional, and we do have more to do that play "let's give Dougie (or anyone else who wishes to act this way) attention time". If you need attention, go see your mommy.

That's not to say they won't build one in Hunt Valley as well, I just doubt they would replace the Towson one.

The radio shop in Hunt Valley is on Gilroy Road. It is back there by McCormick's offices and all of the other offices back there. You can not tell that it is there, because there is no marking on the building as of yet, as far as I know. They say that we should be there sometime in August or September, but that date has changed so many times. We will have to see.
