I've not heard of the call 2 portable. Perhaps you're mistaking this for a Privet call? As in call to portable? To clarify Nate’s answer to your question, the average Baltimore City Patrol Office carries a Motorola XTS3000 Model 1 portable radio equipped with a public safety mic. These are 48 channel ASTRO digital radios capable of transmitting at 3 watts.

scannerman700: I think I figured out what you mean. Are you hearing "CALL-2"? That likely refers to BCFD talkgroup "A5 CALL 2", which is patched to MED 9 (aka CALL 2) of the MIEMSS radio system. That channel is used to contact EMRC and get a hospital status and MED channel assignment. Some units carry an additional portable radio supplied by MIEMSS for MED channel use only, usually a 99 channel MT-1000.

month ago and that is what they had in the new expedition they bought...
matter in fact 2 (Call-2 radios) Does Motorola Manufacture those MT-1000

Motorola did produce the MT1000, but was replaced by the HT1000 Jedi line about 10 years ago.

Even though the 160 channel MT2000 would have been the logical replacement for the 99 channel MT1000, afaik MIEMSS switched to Kenwood radios when the MT1000 was cancelled.

What he is refering to is the Motorola MT-1000's that MIEMSS issued to all EMS agencies in the state...some have since been replaced with Kenwoods. Call 2 is actually just one channel in the radio out of 10 (well sorta 10 it's actually 20 duplex {I think that's what it's called when the transmit and receive freq's are different} with 4 different sets of PL tones to make 40 channels total to be used) there are 4 different "Call 2's", which is just the channel name. Some people here on the shore refer to it as the "Call 2" radio, or the "Med" radio, because it's main purpose is for MED patches to the Hospitals.
