I know what EMS stands for, but can anyone help with "ADO", "SUP"(supply?, supplemental?), "DFM", and "ADM" (administration?)...? These acronyms/abbreviations are in the Baltimore County Fire Department channel names.

And would the "A2 EMS" channel be the main one to keep an eye (ear) on?

Thanks

Admin Ops?
Supervisor?
Dept of Fire Marshall?
Admin Main?

Would be my guess

Main Dispatch
would be the one I'd choose. (Depending on your specific interest)

The letter/number combo's probably designate a CH#/knob position on the radio's. Or a Zone? All pure speculation though..
Not being familiar with Baltimore County...

Might be some insight here..

A2.EMS is just EMS Admin. EMS responses are conducted on the Divisional talkgroups Central, East and West.

Main is the Cointywide dispatch talkgroup.

Other the the talkgroups listed above you shouid have 12, 22, and 32 for boxes. Talkgroups 42, 52 and 62 are overflow if more than one thing occurring at a time.

In closing other groups are used, but the ones listed should carry most of the traffic to get started.

A2 EMS 8 is the EMS supervisor. A3 ADO 5 is the administrative duty officer. He is the guy in charge. A4 SUP 7 is supply and maintenance. A5 DFM 9 is the fire marshal. A8 ADM 6 is administration. The number after each is the channel number.

ADO is not in charge, he is the Liaison between the Civilians at the Dispatch Center and the paid staff in the Field, the Division Chief or the Senior Battalion Chief (when Division is off) is in charge. The ADO does a lot of status changes for unit radio ID's when in reserve units, makes decisions on move up/fill in companies, handles FD issues related to the dispatching of Fire Department units, knows capabilities/resources and status of reserve units in the county.

What is J12 AC 110N, the BATAC (Battalion Tac?) channels, and M1 191 -M8 198 Talk Groups? I wish we had a chart or radio plan explaining all the talk groups and their uses. I'm actually in the process of joining a volunteer department in the county but still a while away.
