Just moved to Baltimore County (Belair Rd. Fullerton just south of Perry Hall) and I'm programming my scanner. I'm not sure what police precinct I'm in. I looked at the map posted on RR and it seems to straddle both Parkville and Whitemarsh. Can anyone help? Also, when it comes to fire and ems can I isolate to use certain op channels (East, West, etc)? Thanks for your help.

If you are on the south side of Belair Rd you are in PCT 9, if you're on the north side you're in 8.

Fire will dispatch on Main, and responses for your area will use the following:
low level/non-box responses on East
Box responses (multiple units) will operate primarily on TAC 22 (and spread to TAC 21-29 if a major incident).
Second string box responses will operate primarily on either 62 or 72, I can't remember- it's been a while and I might have my numbers backwards. Now I'm getting myself all confused :p. Hope that helps though.

You should program both PCT. 8 (Parkville-Talk Group 9606 & 9641) and PCT. 9 (White Marsh-Talk Group 9607 & 9642) for the police. They sometimes share frequencies. For fire you should program Fire Dispatch (Talk Group 9450), East Operations (Talk Group 9453) and East Fireground which they refer to as TAC 3-2). I would also program the Talk Groups 9512 TAC 4-2), 9522 (TAC 5-2), 9532 (TAC 6-2), 9542 (TAC 7-2) and 9552 (TAC 8-2) which are the channels used when a 2nd box alarm is transmitted. I hope this helps.

Is it 3-2? Sorry, I thought I might have got my numbers backwards. I've just got the whole zone setup on the APX.

You've answered your own question, you'll need an outdoor antenna.
One that covers the VHF Low range (30-50 MHz).
MSP Golden Ring is still on 39 MHz freqs.

Question

Does anyone have an issue receiving the county on their 436HP? I am in the North Point area and can't get a clear transmission. Looking for any settings that i may have wrong. I work in the city and it is crystal clear there.
