I heard a reliable report that Baltimore County has recently upgraded the low band fire paging system (46.46mhz). Previously, 46.46mhz was simulcast from only four of the county's towers (Fire HQ, Spookhill, Catonsville, and Northpoint) using relatively aged PURC or Micor transmitters.

The story has it that new transmitters were installed and 46.46mhz is now transmitted from eight tower sites. Does anyone have any idea from which sites, and what the power is?

Well, I'll re-stir this thread. I'm listening to 46.46mhz from Dallastown, PA tonight (about 17 miles north of the state line). I'm listening using a Minitor 4 in an amplified charger with a decent telescoping lowband antenna. The pager and charger are stationary, in the window, facing south. Signal comes and goes. Seems like is occasionally follows certain tones. Is it possible that some change to the lowband has caused the system steer certain towers based on the tone being sent? Just curious, if anyone else gets this. Oh, by the way, it's BUSY BUSY BUSY.

I'll give a listen down here in Bawlmer...46.46 was always sketchy here because of local interference...

Not sure if the interference disappeared or not, but 46.46 sounds great here (midtown Baltimore)...
