just wondering where you got this info... the first 5 zones conflict with the database...

According to what they've been saying on the radio all week. The fleetmap for the new digital radios changed.
The new fleetmap was from a email to all stations dated 3/9/05, the Battalion Chief radios and vehicle radios have been reprogrammed to the new fleetmap. Dispatch started using the new fleetmap on 4/9/05.
The new portable radios are starting to show up in the field with some of the first units going to the Haz-Mat companies.

OK. Here's the stupid question. How do you read it? I've been trying to understand the one in the database.

Yeah I had trouble with it at first too.
The Zone indicated by a letter go down the left side of the page, while the channel indicated by a number from 1-16 go from left to right. It's kinda of confusing since both the top and left margins have numbers and letters.

OK. I understand that I'm in Zones A-G (Baltimore County) and that the 1-16 are channels on a radio, correct? So, say I say Zone C Channel 4. What does the number 33 mean/stand for?

That's what that TG was called in the old radios. The TG IDs and useage have stayed the same. Just a new bandplan for the new radios
Motorola trunking radios are broken down by a number of zones and 16 channels per zone. Depending on the radio, the zones will be labled alphabetically and the channels numericly. Or vice versa with the zones be labled numericly and the channel alphabetically. This seems to be radio specific though. Maybe someone can eleborate.

Example
A1 = Wilkens Precinct 1 Dispatch 101
B1 = Wilkens Precinct 1 Tactical 201
C1 = Wilkens Precinct 1 ISU 301
The above would be true if you left the channel knob in the 1st position and flipped the switch down from A-C. When organized this way all the precinct talkgroups are together and all the talkgroup types are together. Therefore everything at channel position 1 would relate to wilkens and everything in switch position A would be a dispatch talkgroup, ect... hopefully this verbal explanation has helped...if i get a chance to ill post a picture of the top of my radio and label which is which. I have no idea about the FD radios though, i was unable to download that new chart so i couldnt see what the plan looks like and im not sure if my previous explanation holds true for FD radios.
[Edit]: In the PD we dont refer to the TG's by the location name (like A1) we refer to them by a specially assigned number, like 101, 201, 301 ect...

Now I understand. In my PRO-95, I have kept the Axx <Precinct> as my text label, so, when I see like A12 NPOINT, I remember that is North Point Dispatch. Thanks guys!!

some of the guys in CID still use the STX's, if i remember correctly theirs had a knob on the top lettered A-G or something to switch zones...

I can't truly recall, i remembered there being a second knob up there that was either lettered or numbered. I'd guess that the CID version of the STX is probably a bit different than the FD version. Also include the fact that the county radio fleet is somewhat of a flea market of different models, MTS2000's, STX's, MTX810's, ect...ect... (not inlcuding all the old Civil Defense equip laying around and the old MT500's that electronic services still plays with..)
