Baltimore MD area mutual aid system?

the frequencies mentioned in the article (specifically the RINS and I-CALL/I-TAC frequencies) are already programed in the radios of most (if not all) of the counties mentioned in the article. very little traffic has been heard on these frequencies, and although i have the procedures on the use of these frequencies, i am not allowed to share.

Can someone say at least if these are trunked frequencies or just conventional 800 mhz frequencies?

They are conventional 800 MHz freqs with repeaters scattered around the Metro area. I think the only time it's been used, was when there was a brush fire in Patapsco State Park and they patched in Frederick Co. mutual aid units in to Baltimore Co's TRS via the RIN freqs. Other than that instance, I've only heard training on those freqs from time to time.

Also note, that as part of the RINS system, the specification calls for a PL of 156.7. A lot of counties in the state are using some of the RINS frequencies in CSQ mode simplex as a talkaround or fireground frequency. Also, two of the RINS frequencies are part of the DE state TRS as control channels. Listening in PL mode ensures you get the "official" traffic but you may miss all of the other stuff.

I was listening to a multi-unit surveilance op last week in Howard County. They started on a regular Howard County frequency, but when the subject moved across the county line, they switched to "Oscar-6", which is a RINS channel. I guess that they switched because they were moving out of range of the Howard trunked system. Anywho, it made for some very interesting listening.

Yes, I've also heard Howard Co on thse RINS freqs a few times. Earlier this year it was testing but lately the Police seem to be using them for surveillance and the such.
